Watching the Skys, Thinking About Spring

As winter continues there are days when it’s just too cold to be outside and enjoy it. So we end up watching the sky for signs of Spring. We love to watch the birds at the backyard feeder.

At night especially when the moon is full it’s fun to check out the stars. We try to do something special on full moons and star gazing is a good starting point. It’s amazing how the stars change in the sky. Different constellations are more visible in the winter than summer. Having a good pair of binoculars or a telescope can really help.  Buytelescopes.com seems to have the best astronomy binoculars for decent prices.

We also use different guide books to help us identify the constellations and plants. Of course its a great learning opportunity that can lead into mythology and how people used to use the stars to navigate (history) etc.

And sometimes its just good to be in awe of the beauty of the world we live in.
